“What kind of purpose always brings you outside at night?” Prudence turned on the wall lights, interrupting her friend's secret escape.
“I'd love to tell you but I can't.”
Prudence grabbed her jacket from a study chair and put it on, “I want to see it in action, Annie. Stop keeping me in the dark.”
“Not tonight. Some other time, okay? I will show you. I'll explain later.” Annie shot Prudence a stern gaze.
Prudence sighed, sank in bed, and took off her jacket. Annie disappeared through the door. Seconds later, Prudence stood again and put her jacket back on.
Prudence also appears in the novel I Killed My Friends and It Thrilled Me.
