Prudence slipped through a hole in the wall, climbed the stairs and slowly made her way across the dark. “You know it would be nicer if you do something other than watch, like helping me for a change,” she told me when she arrived at the stair's landing. She continued walking.
“You came to me, remember? I didn't come to you.” I followed her.
“Then make yourself useful.”
We reached a door at the end of the corridor, soft light peeking through the small space between the door and the doorframe. Prudence's demeanor changed when she saw what was inside.
