The Golden Paper
Annie folded the golden paper and stuffed it inside her back pocket. “Doesn't make sense,” she said.
She closed her eyes and felt the air around her, trying to trace a thread of life, when an unexpected thud on the floor diverted her attention. A six-foot tall, hairy insectoid brandishing a giant stinger protruding from its back emerged from the shadows. She put her hands in front of her and conjured a white luminescent wall just as the creature tried to jab her face with its stinger. With a red and swollen weapon, the insectoid retreated in the dark, hissing.
Prudence also appears in the novel I Killed My Friends and It Thrilled Me.
