“21 consecutive nights of you being an annoyance,” I told Prudence as we both watched the Rotting Man decay to oblivion in a matter of seconds. Behind us, a group of teenage boys scurried away to find their exit from the abandoned building.
“Saving lives isn't annoying,” said Prudence. Her eyes scoured mine, looking for answers she's yet to find.
“It is, to me.”
“Then do something about it. Complaining doesn't get anything done.” She walked the direction the boys went to.
“Have you figured out who I am?”
She stopped for a moment, turned to me, and said nothing.
Prudence also appears in the novel I Killed My Friends and It Thrilled Me.
