A flash of light illuminated the entirety of the room for a second, eliciting an angry hiss from the insectoid.
“Run, Prudence! Run!” Annie's voice drowned out the creature's supernatural fizz.
After a couple of steps backwards, Prudence's feet betrayed her. She fell on the dusty floor, losing her view of the room where Annie and the insectoid that disguised itself as a human a while ago still remained. There was another hiss. Then Annie's deathly scream. Her heart and legs overpowered by terror, Prudence crawled to the doorway where her heart broke and the old version of her died.
Prudence also appears in the novel I Killed My Friends and It Thrilled Me.
