Pinstripe and Gold
“If they're not vampires, what are they?” The bright Lasso of Light twirled above Prudence's head.
“They're folks who we will not fight and should not be here with us,” I answered.
“But we are here now, my brother,” said the man leading the pack of newcomers. He wore a pinstripe suit and a gold chain around his neck. “To stop your insanity before it grows.”
“Well, I came here to fight.” Prudence threw the end of her lasso to him.
I grabbed her arm. “No—”
The man ripped his gold chain off and I knew we're in deep trouble.
Prudence also appears in the novel I Killed My Friends and It Thrilled Me.
