“Too old-fashioned, my friend.” The man in the dark, grey suit pushed a piece of chicken into his mouth with a fork. “You are.”
I sliced my pancake into small perfect squares.
“You're meek,” my companion continued.
“I'm not,” I said. “I choose not to meddle in human affairs.”
“We have all of eternity to play around here on Earth.” He smirked, boasting a tiny piece of ravioli stuck in between his teeth.
“The woman, she can see me against my will.”
He leaned towards me and whispered, “Then do something about it. Get rid of her if you must.”
The man in dark, grey suit also appears in the novel I Killed My Friends and It Thrilled Me.
