Borrowed Hands and Warm Shoulders
My borrowed hands gripped Prudence's warm shoulders. “Tell me how many people here in Cinnabar got the opportunity to fight demons and save lives like you.”
Prudence averted my gaze and looked at Annie's bed instead.
“See? You know no one else. Whatever inkling of doubt or remorse you feel, you should let it go. What's given to you is a one of a kind gift,” I continued.
“The memory of that demon killing Annie will forever haunt me.” The quiver in Prudence's voice was impossible to miss.
“Let guilt anchor you and justice for Annie will elude you forever.”
Prudence also appears in the novel I Killed My Friends and It Thrilled Me.
